It started as a sunset.
Repainted. Reworked. Reconsidered — more times than she’d like to admit. And somewhere in the middle of all that, a figure appeared. A woman with dark skin and a white bikini, stretched out beneath a straw parasol, completely unbothered. The sky above her never quite made up its mind — the sun still up, the clouds already turning violet, that in-between hour that belongs to no one.
This piece wasn’t planned. It became.
She isn’t a portrait. She’s a feeling — the version of yourself that lives only in daydreams, the one who always seems to be somewhere warm, somewhere slow, somewhere with no agenda but the sun. Carved out with palette knife and fine-tipped brush, stroke by stroke, she was one of the hardest things to make appear. No sketching. No outlines. Just the blade and the bristle, coaxing a figure out of colour and light.
